The great wine that made Antinori famous
``Tignanello'' and ``Soraia'' are the flagship wines that made Antinori, a prestigious Italian wine brand, famous around the world. Tenuta Tenanero, where these two wines are produced, is located in the heart of Chianti Classico, about 30 km from Florence. Mr. Piero Antinori, the 26th generation head of the Antinori family, had doubts about how to make Chianti Classico, which is a blend of white grapes. With the technology at the time, only Sangiovese's ``hard tannins and sharp acidity'' stood out, and to compensate for this, white grapes were mixed in with the sea urchin. However, Mr. Piero continues to pursue brewing methods that will improve the quality of Sangiovese and bring out its charm.
Thus, in 1971, Tignanello, a supertuscan blend of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon, was born. Seven years later, in 1978, they released ``Soraia,'' a blend that was completely opposite to Tignanello, which was mainly made of Cabernet Sauvignon. Immediately after their release, these two wines were considered heretical for combining traditional native varieties with exotic varieties, but they subsequently received high praise overseas and quickly rose to stardom as global super tuscans. The innovative blend of these two wines can be said to have revolutionized the lineage of Italian wine.
The highest peak in the Chianti Classico area, an excellent highland field
Tenuta Tignanero's vineyard covers an area of 132 hectares in the heart of Chianti Classico. This area is so good that it was already described as a famous brewing area in the 15th century. The altitude is between 340 and 400 ha, and the climate is perfect for growing grapes, with warm days and cool nights. It is a hilly region typical of Tuscany, with rows of grapes creeping up a very steep, sunny slope. The field for Tignanero is 57ha, and the field for Soraia is 20ha. Defoliation, harvesting, and green harvesting are all done manually.
“Alberese System” is a luxurious method to create excellent soil yourself
The ``Alberese System'' is a unique method developed by Antinori, inspired by the ``white stones'' found in the fields of Tignanello. At Tenuta Tignanero, the characteristic white stone of the Chianti Classico area is crushed into gravel-sized pieces and mixed into the soil to a depth of about 20 cm. This stone is

It has two functions. When Sangiovese ripens rapidly under direct sunlight, it becomes watery and only has a pronounced sour taste. The use of stones allows the grapes to ripen slowly using reflected light from the ground, allowing us to harvest high-quality Sangiovese with sweet tannins. Since this method is extremely laborious and costly, it has only been implemented in Tenuta Tignanero since 2004. It is a bold and luxurious method that is unique to Antinori, who has worked hard to bring out the charm of Sangiovese for over 30 years.
The best blend selected from all grapes prepared in the best possible way
The state-of-the-art brewing facility, completed in 2008, has separate facilities for Tignanero and Soraia. The Tignanero fields are divided into 24 plots, and even after harvest, 24 tanks are used for separate brewing and barrel aging.
The most important thing to do at this time is to extract while maintaining "flexibility and delicacy." At Soraia, the work is even more detailed. A large conveyor belt is set up and the fruits are sorted by hand. The skins and juice squeezed from the second floor by the operating press can be gently poured into the tank. Of course, all 14 compartments are treated individually, and fermentation and pressing are carried out at the best timing. The wine is aged in French oak and Hungarian oak barrels for 16 to 18 months. Soraia is 18 months old. After all aging separately, only the best cuvées are blended for the first time to create the flavor of the year. It will be released after final bottle aging.
The gorgeous aroma of red fruits such as cherry and blackberry blends with hints of leather, spice, and minerals to create a complex impression. This is a very well-balanced red wine with a fresh and lively impression, and sweet, supple, round tannins.
