What is Dom Perignon?
Champagne ``Dom Pérignon'', commonly known as ``Dom Peri''. It is no exaggeration to say that it is the most famous champagne in the world. Dom Pérignon is produced by Moët & Chandon, the largest producer in the Champagne region of France. The name Dom Pérignon comes from the monk Dom Pierre Pérignon (died 1715), who was the winemaker at the Benedictine Abbey of Hautvillers in the Champagne region. Dom Pierre Pérignon is said to have established the origin of today's champagne, a sparkling wine made through secondary fermentation in the bottle, in the Champagne region. He also created the technique of assemblage, which involves mixing different grapes. Dom Pierre Pérignon's wine was highly praised by Louis XIV, the Sun King at the same time, and became an indispensable presence at the Palace of Versailles. The philosophy of Dom Pérignon, which has such a long history, is a commitment to vintage wines, wines produced in a single year. Moreover, it is a wine that can only be produced in good years. (Normally, Champagne is a blend of wines from different vintages.) Dom Peri is also used at imperial banquets in Japan, and its quality is guaranteed. A champagne with a well-balanced taste that everyone will appreciate. For this reason, champagne is also very popular as a gift or souvenir.
