What is Prule Rock?
Prieure Roc is a domaine located in the village of Nuits-Saint-Georges in the Burgundy region of France.
It was founded in 1988 by Henri Frédéric Roque.
Mr. Locke is the grandson of Henri Leroy, the second generation owner of Domaine Leroy, and the nephew of the famous Madame Leroy.
Mr. Henri-Frédéric Roque purchased a parcel sold by DRC (Domaine de la Romanée-Conti), the highest peak in Burgundy, and founded Domaine Prieure Roque.
Since 1992, he has also been a partner in DRC.
Mr. Locke, who had the genes of a genius brewer and the ability as a manager, practiced biologic farming and became a leading naturalist, receiving high acclaim around the world.
Unfortunately, he passed away in 2018 at the young age of 56. Currently, Yannick Shang, who has been a co-owner since 2010, has taken over Mr. Rock's wine making.

Henri Frédéric Roque studied ancient texts and revived the organic farming practiced by Cistercian monks more than 700 years ago. Mr. Rock says, ``This is a cultivation method that maintains fertile soil by activating microorganisms and aims to harmonize with the providence of the universe.''
At Prieure Rock, we do not use any pesticides such as herbicides or chemical fertilizers, but only organic fertilizers. The harvest is of course hand-picked. All field work, such as weeding, is done by hand.
After the grapes are harvested and sorted, they are further selected at the brewery. Then, without destemming, the whole bunches are placed in a fermenter, and fermentation is carried out using only wild yeast. Whole bunch fermentation produces wines with complex flavors, and DRC also uses this method.
Supplemental sugar (chaptalization), which is allowed in France, is not used at Prieure Rock.
In addition, even today, the grapes are crushed using human feet. This means that the wine-making traditions of ancient times are still practiced today.
The wood used in the barrels used for aging is purchased by DRC over 50 years ago and dried for 20 to 30 years.
We also do not add sulfite, an antioxidant. For this reason, we sample and analyze each barrel once every two months to ensure that the wine is aging properly.
In addition, the wine is bottled without filtration without racking.
It is truly the ultimate biologic wine, carefully and meticulously crafted.
Thoughts behind the label
The hieroglyph-like logo on the label comes from ancient Egyptian texts. The green pattern on the left represents the vine, the three red circles at the bottom represent the fruit of the grape, the yellow oval above represents God, and the yellow oval below represents humans. This is a symbolic logo that represents Mr. Locke's idea that wine is created by God, or nature, and by humans.

A cuvée made with grapes from Prés de la Folie and La Colombière, vineyards in the Vosne-Romanée village.

burgundy Rouge Pinotoli Pure
This is an AC Bourgogne made from grapes from special grade fields and first grade fields. Among the Prülé Rock wines, it has a high degree of ripeness and a sense of concentration. We use Chardonnay from Ladois-Seligny village. The vineyard is 0.35ha, making this wine extremely valuable.

Vosne Romanee Black Gowai Yacht
It is extremely popular with wine lovers around the world, and due to its small production volume, it is a rare gem.
This plot was once owned by the Duke of Conti, and was purchased by Mr. Locke at the beginning of his business and became the sole owner of Prieure Locke.
