Jimmy Brooks' legacy continues

Brooks is a brand founded in 1998 by Jimmy Brooks, one of Oregon's earliest practitioners of biodynamic farming. Jimmy Brooks believes that ``Biodynamic farming is a cycle necessary for the eternal survival of the field,'' and has been practicing it in the fields of Meisara Winery since a time when almost no one knew about biodynamic farming. I've been doing it. At the same time, he rented brewery space in Maysala and produced his own wine under the Brooks name, while concurrently serving as vineyard manager for other wineries, and is expected to be the next generation of wine culturalist in the Oregon wine industry. However, in 2004, at the age of 38, he passed away from heart failure.

After Jimmy passed away, his beliefs and aspirations were passed on to current winemaker Chris Williams, who was assistant winemaker at the time. In addition, Jimmy's sister Janie Heck is involved in the management of the winery, and in 2008, she purchased the field where Jimmy first practiced biodynamic cultivation and the small brewery adjacent to it in Eola Amity Hills. We have started our own production. At the same time, we purchase grapes from growers with long-term contracts, gradually increasing production to our current annual production of 12,000 dozen.

Currently, Brooks is succeeded by Jimmy's son Pascal as the world's youngest owner, and a new winery with a gravity structure was completed in 2014.

What does Ouroboros mean?

The Brooks logo depicts an ouroboros biting its tail. Ouroboros, a serpent that eats its own tail, means something complete with no beginning or end, and in classical Greece it is a symbol of ``cyclicality'' and ``immortality.'' Ouroboros symbolizes Brooks' biodynamic beliefs and worldview.
