Established in 1978, Pioneer Winery on the Mornington Peninsula
Stonier is a winery founded in 1978 by Brian Stonier, a successful Melbourne publisher. Since grapes were started growing in the Mornington area early on, there was no data available, and we were just trying to figure out cultivation methods, varieties, and tailoring methods. Although the mild maritime climate brings rain in the summer, the fields with deep alluvial soils retain more water than necessary, encouraging the vines to thrive and diverting nutrients to the leaves and branches rather than the fruit. After pruning more severely and trying various training methods, I settled on the liar method that I am currently using.
Stonier is characterized by high quality grapes and delicate winemaking techniques. Mornington Peninsula has a so-called cold climate, but because it is a peninsula, it is also greatly influenced by wind. Strong winds, especially during the flowering period, can hinder fruit set and reduce yields. Cultivating grapes in such conditions is not easy, but the quality of the grapes is excellent. The wine exhibits the character of a cool region, with an elegant, understated yet full-bodied and refined flavor. It is characterized by a well-balanced, complex, and powerful flavor, with no single flavor or aroma standing out.

Aromas of cherry, plum, and rose flower mixed with bright spice flavors, rich red and black fruits wrapped in fine tannins, and a powerful and smooth finish that fills the palate.
