Margaret River's second oldest winery
Established in 1969, Mosswood is the second oldest winery in Margaret River, Australia's most famous brewing region today. We have a vineyard and winery in the northern Wilyabrup (sub-region), where conditions such as soil and climate are said to be most suitable for grape cultivation.Since our establishment, we have been a winery specializing in premium wines, producing high quality wines. We have been aiming to make wine.
Current owner and winemaker Keith Mugford studied cultivation and brewing at the University of Adelaide's Roseworthy School in South Australia, and joined Mosswood as an assistant winemaker in 1979. He and his wife Claire inherited Mosswood in 1984 from winery founders Bill and Mrs. Pannell. Since then, we have worked to further improve the quality of our wine and continue to make various improvements in cultivation and brewing.
In 2000, they purchased the Ribbonvale Vineyard (planted in 1977), located 1.2 km south of the same Willyabrup area, and added a new blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc & Semillon to the range. I did.
Initiatives for quality
In Margaret River, which has a short history of grape cultivation, in order to produce satisfactory wine, it is necessary to conduct detailed research on the soil and grape growing environment, and to continually make improvements to create a better environment. At Mosswood, we believe that the quality of wine is determined by the vineyard, so we use different trellis systems depending on the variety and field characteristics, and we maintain soil rich in earthworms and microorganisms by mulching around the roots. We continue to make efforts to maintain the health of our fields.
Australian auction house Langton currently ranks Mosswood's Cabernet Sauvignon at its highest rating, ``exceptional''.

Mosswood Vineyard (14ha)
Gentle north- and east-facing slopes spread around the winery grounds. The first planting was in 1969. Low yield. No irrigation.

Ribbonvale Vineyard (6.36ha)
A field in the center of Wilyaburup. Slopes facing south and southwest. First planted in 1977, purchased by Mosswood in 2000. No irrigation.
