A new project from a venerable family

Viña Coile is a premium Chilean winery founded in 2006 by the Undraga family, which has been involved in winemaking for six generations since 1885. The vineyard is located in Los Lingues, Alto Colchagua district, the highest altitude in the Colchagua Valley, at the foot of the Andes Mountains, and red grapes are planted on 80ha of land. Koire is an ancient plant that lives in the forests surrounding vineyards. It was named Koire because of its purple flowers. Sauvignon Blanc is made from grapes from long-term contract farmers in Paredones, near the sea in Colchagua.

Favorable climatic conditions and soil

The Colchagua Valley has a Mediterranean climate, with cool breezes blowing down from the Andes Mountains, and the region is dry throughout the year. The fields are well-drained, with a mix of clay and granite gravel, providing the best conditions for grape cultivation. At Koire, we are particular about expressing the terroir of the land, and our fields are densely planted with 12,500 trees per hectare, keeping the yield per tree to less than 1.5 kg, and working to grow grapes that are rich in fruit flavor but also have a mineral feel. Masu. Respecting the harmony between the fields and the surrounding environment, we have adopted biodynamic farming methods since 2008 and obtained Demeter certification in 2012.

Wine making dedicated to the pursuit of quality

Winemaker Cristobal Undraga has experience in winemaking in California, Australia, and Bordeaux, and was appointed chief winemaker at Viña Coile in 2006. Cristobal carefully investigates the soil in the fields of Los Lingues and plants each variety, keeping yields low and aiming to express the unique flavor and terroir of the area.

Vigna Coile's wines include the standard class "Reserva" and the premium range "Royal" made from grapes from specific regions.

Fresh raspberry and spicy aromas stand out with hints of volcanic rock and stone, creating a beautiful dry contrast. It is made from grapes grown in low-yield, densely planted fields in the iron-rich volcanic basalt soil of Cerro Basalto (Basalt Hill), located in the northeastern part of Los Lingues.
