Matetic Vineyards is a winery founded in 1999 by the Matetic family, who run resort hotels in Rosario Valley, located in the northwest part of the San Antonio Valley. Georges Mattetic was convinced that the Rosario Valley's warm climate and rich natural environment could produce wine with great potential, and he worked with biodynamic farming consultant Ian York, cultivation expert Ann Kraemer, and winemaker・Started the winery by inviting consultant Ken Baselnardo.

Pioneer of Chilean cool region wine

Matetic currently owns four vineyards in an area spanning from the southern Casablanca Valley to the northern San Antonio Valley. Since our establishment in 1999, we have grown organically and biodynamically, and in 2013 all of our vineyards received Demeter biodynamic certification. Located 13-19 km from the Pacific coast, this region maintains a cool climate due to the influence of the Humboldt Current, and there is a large difference in temperature between day and night, allowing the grapes to reach physiological maturity slowly and maintain an appropriate balance of sugar and acidity. You can harvest grapes there. The brewery was also built to take advantage of the hilly terrain and to be in harmony with nature, with a gravity-fed structure.

Our main production is Sauvignon Blanc and Syrah, and we are the first pioneer in Chile to produce cool-region Syrah. All wines have rich acidity, pure expression of the characteristics of the variety, and are well-balanced.

There are two ranges: Coralillo and EQ, and EQ is an abbreviation for equilibrium. The concept is that Matetic wines are created from the balance of Chile's climate, soil, and trees.

Matetic Vineyards has been named one of the World's Best 100 Wineries by Wine & Spirits magazine in 2008, 2011, 2012, and 2014. In addition, the quality of wine has shown significant improvement in recent years, with ``EQ Syrah 2012'' winning the 2015 International Wine Challenge (London) ``World's Best Biodynamic Wine'' award, and further growth is expected in the future. .

Aromas of red cherry, blueberry, and spice emerge, with elegant fruit flavors and soft tannins. It is aged for 11 months in French oak barrels using grapes from biodynamically certified fields located in the Rosario Valley near the Pacific coast where there is a large temperature difference between day and night.
