Domaine Barre is a fifth generation producer in Marsannay, with brother and sister Martin and Odile Barre joining the domaine in 1987. These two are the grandchildren of Joseph Claire Dow, who was a great contributor to Marsannay and one of the best brewers in the Côte de Nuits, which is full of famous wines. It is also a cousin of Bruno Claire, a producer who is rapidly gaining popularity in Marsannay. Currently, Odile's son, Pierre, has been in the brewery since 2003 and has been in charge of cultivation and brewing since 2007.
The domaine owns 21 hectares of vineyards in Fissant, Marsannay, Gevrey-Chambertin, Chambolle-Musigny and Saintenay. The grapes are grown in Rutt Raisonné, and a green harvest system is used to obtain high quality grapes. He has been doing this process for 10 years, which is very laborious and costly, requiring 18 people over 3 weeks. This green harvest produces grapes with a high degree of ripeness, producing concentrated wine. All grapes are harvested by hand, and the fruit is sorted in the field.
Domaine Bar's wines have a good balance of both white and red, have a delicate touch and smoothness, and are extremely cost-effective. Cold maceration (around 10℃) is performed for 12 days, and the proportion of new barrels ranges from 5% to 50% for Grand Cru. We consider the degree of charring of the barrels to be used, assuming that the product will be ready to drink once it is bottled from the barrel. The motto for brewing is "terroir and fruity." In order to bring out the individuality of the terroir, we skillfully use different barrels, using small barrels to produce sweet wines with a pleasant flavor that will make you want to drink more, and large barrels to produce elegant wines with soft tannins.
A refreshing attack with a scent reminiscent of small red fruits. It has a mellow taste, but the pure and tangy minerality that you feel at the end is also attractive. A rosé with a strong flavor.
