A producer who left DO Montsan with a focus on quality and pursued his own path.

This winery was established in 2001 by Roger Grifoy Declara, the fifth generation owner and winemaker, who inherited the family business. The village of El Morar in Catalonia, where the company is located, is a special village that straddles both the DOCa Priorat and DO Montsan regions. Currently, at two wineries, we are producing wine that respects nature, focusing on Garnacha and Cariñena, which have been handed down from old vines for generations. In 2017, they left DO Montsan and launched their own standard ``Mountain Wines (MWEM)'' with much stricter conditions. Roger and his wife Ikumi pursue higher quality and terroir, and pursue their own path with conviction.

Two hours southwest of Barcelona. The village of El Morar, where the winery is located, is a small village of 300 people located in a valley deep in the mountains of Priorat. The rocky mountains that surround it on all sides block the humid winds and rain from the Mediterranean Sea, so the weather is sunny all year round. The climate is dry, with annual rainfall of 200 mm, and this harsh environment allows for cultivation that respects the nature that has been passed down from generation to generation without using pesticides. The difference in temperature between day and night, little precipitation, and the unique soil called "Liquolla" (slate mixed with various minerals such as silica, mica, and iron), which is the biggest feature of Priorat, and the mountain - The complex and diverse soils of the wines, including Licorella, limestone, sand, and clay, produce concentrated wines with unique minerality and character.

Having a relationship with Mr. Alvaro Palacios, one of the ``Gang of Four'', Roger studied under Mr. Palacios for five years. From his experience there, he came to want to build his own winery and send the wines of his family, Grifoy (paternal) and Declara (maternal), to the world, and in 2001, when Roger was 20 years old, that dream came true. . In 2002, his second year making wine at the new Montsan winery, he earned 90p Parker Points. He received high scores in various evaluation magazines and started making wine in Priorat in 2006. Currently, it is exported to 38 countries including Europe and America.

In 2017, Roger decided to withdraw from DO Montsan, and adhered to three concepts (1. Terroir, 2. Organic, 3. High quality) and obtained certification from the Spanish national certification body ENAC under its own strict conditions. , started releasing as "Mountain Wines" in 2018.
