The finest winery that created the miracle of Austrian red wine
Weingut Krutzler is a winery with a special position in Austria that has received international acclaim in many countries. Hermann Krutzler discovered the potential of Blaufränkisch in this region and began producing high quality wines. The current owner is his son Reinhard Krutzler, who took over the management of the winery in 1992 and created the world-famous flagship wine "Pellwolf". Nowadays, Pellwolf is one of Austria's leading red wines and the main character of the "Miracle of Austrian Red Wine."
South Burgenland, where the winery is located, is a historic wine-producing region where grape cultivation began around 800 BC. Krutzler has been making high-quality wine here since 1966, and owns 12 ha of fields in Eisenberg and Deutsch Schützen. We do not rely on single-vineyard winemaking, but rather combine the diverse characteristics of the two vineyards of Eisenberg and Deutsche Schützen, relying on the interaction resulting from vineyard management, stylistic consistency and high quality grapes. I'm particular about it.
Fermentation is traditionally carried out in open or closed tanks for 14–28 days, followed by gentle extraction. Depending on the style of wine, malolactic fermentation uses either stainless steel tanks or large or small barrels. At the winery, the winemaking process is simple and natural, with little use of technology. All wines are distinguished by their suppleness and elegance, especially their fine minerality, and offer a uniquely delicate drinking experience.
