Bodegas Barcarlos is located in the Tierra Estella region of Navarra, northeastern Spain, bordering France. The winery is owned by the Faustino Group, one of the largest family-run businesses in Spain, and was founded in 2001 by Julio Faustino Martínez. The field I own is 80ha at an altitude of 400-600m. In addition to Tempranillo and Viura, which are native to Spain, we also grow European varieties of Merlot, Cabernet, and Chardonnay. The wine produced by the winery, which has a total area of ​​13,000 square meters and is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, is reasonably priced and of high quality. It is exported to Europe and other countries around the world.

Navarre, where Barcarlos is located, means "plain surrounded by mountains" in Basque. Hidden in the shadow of Rioja, it has been considered a rosé production area, but in recent years, thanks to the efforts of producers, it has transformed into an important red wine production area. The climate is continental, with cold winds from the Pyrenees in winter and hot, dry summers, but mild spring and autumn and sufficient rainfall for grape growing. The winery is located on the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela and is named after Barcarlos, the first village you pass when entering Spain from the French border.

The brand name "Fortius" comes from the famous motto of the International Olympic Committee when it was founded in 1894: "citius, altius, fortius" (faster, higher, stronger). In the competition of life, it means making constant efforts to improve and grow as a human being. ``Fortius'' incorporates this spirit into Barcarlos. It expresses strength, hard work, and an attitude of constantly challenging to produce good results, and a determination to never give up on pursuing the maximum expression of grapes, even when difficult things happen. The griffon on the label is a mythical creature that is a mix of a lion (king of the earth) and an eagle (king of the sky), and is a symbol of strength and excellence.
