Bodegas Campillo is located in the Rioja Alavesa region of the Basque province of Alava and is owned by the Faustino Group, one of Spain's largest privately owned companies. This is a chateau-style winery created by Julio Faustino Martinez, the leader of the group, in order to achieve his ideal of producing high-quality wine. It was the first winery building in Rioja built with a concept that combines winemaking and architectural beauty. The wine, which is always made with an emphasis on quality, is a long-aging type with perfect balance. It has received high praise.

The Faustino family's winemaking history dates back to the 1860s, and in the 1950s they started Bodegas Faustino and built an empire. Then, in 1978, he purchased a small vineyard, named the project Campillo (small vineyard), and operated it as a completely separate business from the Faustino empire. Mr. Julio had long dreamed of building a top-notch winery equipped with modern, luxurious, cutting-edge technology, and in 1988 his dream became a reality. The chateau-style winery, surrounded by vineyards, was a pioneer in Spain. Currently, his daughter María Pilar Martínez Zabara is in charge of running it.

Laguardia, where the vineyards are located, is a picturesque village located at the foot of the Cantabrian Mountains. With a stronger Atlantic influence than the Mediterranean, the soil is rich in chalk, producing wines that appeal to traditionalists and modernists alike. Campillo is the highest in Rioja at an altitude of 700m, and owns 50ha on a carefully selected prime piece of land on a south-facing slope. This environment, combined with low yields and rigorous sorting, results in grapes with concentrated tannins and pigments that retain their youthful flavor even after long aging. The wine has a classic style, somewhere between traditional and modern, with a light mouthfeel and great structure afterwards.

Uses new French oak barrels. A luxurious taste that combines an elegant fruit flavor reminiscent of quince with a rich oak aroma.
