Awarded ``2000 Winery of the Year'' by Italian wine guidebook
The Alto Adige region in northern Italy is famous for its white wine production. This winery, run by Hans Telzer, one of Italy's leading ``Bianquista'' (white wine expert) brewers, is a cantina sociale (brewery cooperative) and is featured in the Italian wine guidebook ``Vini di Italia.'' This winery is so talented that it was selected as ``Winery of the Year'' in the 2000 edition.
Winemaker Hans Telzer is world-famous as a white wine brewer in South Tyrol (another name for the Alto Adige province) and has the ability to be selected as one of the top 10 winemakers in the world.
“Sankt Valentin” series
The top series representing the company is "Sankt Valentin". The name comes from St. Valentin Castle, the vineyard where the first wine in the series was born in 1986. In 1986, the first vintage, there were three varieties: Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, and Gewurztraminer, and the production volume was only 6,500 bottles in total, but now 10 items are produced, with a total of 400,000 bottles. I did.
The grapes used in the series are of the highest quality among the grapes produced by the company, and are affectionately called "chicche" (meaning gentleness and beauty in Italian). Brewed and aged under controlled conditions. After aging, each tank and barrel is tasted to determine if it is suitable for the quality of St. Valentin, and if it is not, it is downgraded to the Selection Series.
It represents San Michele Appiano and is one of the most highly rated white wines in Italy. We use only grapes grown in a limited number of vineyards under favorable conditions, and some barrels are used to bring out the mellowness. The fruit and elegance of Sauvignon are expressed to the fullest.
