Along with him was James Dean, who promised to open a new restaurant that would become No. 1 in Hollywood. Mr. Jean Leon strives to make his dreams come true with James Dean. Unfortunately, while preparing to open the restaurant, James suddenly passed away, but he did not give in and opened the restaurant ``La Scala'' in Beverly Hills. The restaurant, which was cutting edge at the time and had a luxurious and stylish atmosphere, quickly gained a high reputation. Pioneer of international variety cultivation in Spain

Mr. Jean Leon purchased a vineyard in Penedes, Catalonia, and began making wine. His motto was ``unique and unparalleled wine,'' and he first replanted the grapes on a large scale. Despite the criticism of those around him, he cultivated a field planted with indigenous varieties of Spain, including Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc from Chateau Lafite Rothschild and Chateau La Lagunne, and Chardonnay from Corton-Charlemagne.
