Ashton Winery is a cooperative winery founded in 1962 with investment from multiple growers. It is located in the heart of Robertson, known as the ``Valley of Wine and Roses'', about 150km inland east of Cape Town. The company's motto is to "supply approachable and delicious wines at affordable prices." We produce wines that are well-balanced and don't make you tired of drinking, with a style that has a concentrated taste of South African fruit. CEO Sterik de Wet is a former KWV cellar meister. He is a graduate of Stellenbosch University from Robertson. He has over 20 years of winemaking experience. The winemaker is Simon Basson. During his third year at Stellenbosch University, his passion for wine developed and he switched his undergraduate course to oenology and viticulture. After graduating in 2001, he cut his teeth at Paradux, a Napa Valley winery by California mastermind Duckhorn, before joining Ashton in 2007.

Robertson is a fertile viticultural region surrounded by mountains. Annual rainfall is low at 400 mm, and the water source is the Breed River, which runs on a flat plain. Even in summer, the average temperature is 23 degrees Celsius, which is relatively cool for this region, due to the influence of cold winds accompanied by fog that blow down from the Langeberg massif to the north. The soil is sandy, alluvial, and calcareous. There are a variety of terroirs and a wide variety of cultivated varieties, numbering as many as 48. 65% are white grapes, including Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Colombard. 35% are black grapes, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, and Pinotage.

A brilliant ruby ​​red with a slight purple tinge. Aromas of black fruit and hints of black pepper are felt, with toasty aromas derived from barrel aging and herbal aromas adding complexity. The rich fruit flavors, pleasant tannins, and acidity are well balanced, and over time these elements blend beautifully, resulting in a smoother drinking experience.
