Burgundy's prestigious Gros family, which started with the first generation Alphonse Gros. Bernard Gros, the current owner of Gros F & S, is the second son of Jean Gros, who made the Gros family famous around the world.He took over the domaine and ran it since 1984, when the siblings Gustave and Colette had no children. I am. The vineyards we own are approximately 20 ha in Vosne Romanée, Vougeot, etc., of which nearly 10% is Grand Cru. Bernard has actively worked to improve his vineyards, expand his cellar, and improve the quality of his wines, creating an exotic and powerful style of wine.

The vines are relatively young due to being replanted, but we carry out thorough green harvesting, strictly limit yields, and are extremely particular about quality. Brewing takes place in the traditional manner in concrete tanks with temperature-controlled cooling equipment. Extraction is done by Remontage before fermentation and Pigeage after fermentation. The 228L barrels used for aging are made from oak wood that was purchased exclusively for the domaine and carefully matured. The oak barrels give the wine a richness, but it blends well without being overpowering. The wine is clarified and unfiltered before bottling.

Bernard's son Vincent joined the domaine in 2009 and several changes were made. On the brewing side, we have gradually lengthened the brewing period over the years, now over four weeks with less intervention and small technical changes. Maturation has also evolved. Since 2014, we have been using custom-made barrels in close collaboration with barrel manufacturers. We buy wood from three forests and dry it for four years. Although you cannot find barrels that have been dried for that long on the market, the drying period is an important criterion that greatly affects the quality of tannins. The barrels are baked over low heat for a long time to give the wine a sense of elegance. Those of village name class and above are aged in 100% new barrels.

His first vintage, 2012, shows his individuality and stamps his differences from his father. His father Bernard's style is rich, spicy wines with great aromatics and great concentration. Vincent is looking for wines that are a little more crisp and have aromas of fresh fruit, but at the same time have the same silky softness as his father. He fulfills his duties at the domaine firmly in the spirit of his family, and his father is never too far away to support him.
