Leeuwin Estate is Australia's leading premium winery, founded in 1973 by Dennis and Tricia Hogan. In the early 1970s, Dennis Hogan learned from a visit from California wine mogul Robert Mondavi that the meadows where his family spent weekends had the potential to produce world-class wine, and decided to make it on his own. They decided to clear the land and plant grapes. Under Mondavi's guidance, they began planting Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, and Pinot Noir in 1974, and Bob Cartwright became the first winemaker in 1978, the same year he first established Leeuwin Estate. wine was made.

Cartwright was chief winemaker for 28 vintages before retiring in 2005, building the foundation of Leeuwin Wines. Current winemaker Paul Atwood began working at Leeuwin Estate in 1997 and, after Cartwright's retirement, served as chief winemaker, ensuring Leeuwin Estate's reputation remains strong today.

After Dennis and Tricia retired, their eldest daughter Simone and brother Justin took over the winery as co-CEOs, and together with their experienced winemaking team, they export Leeuwin Estate wines to 30 countries around the world.

A high-grade restaurant attached to the winery, an art gallery exhibiting works by up-and-coming domestic painters purchased for art labels, and a Leeuwin concert held on the winery's outdoor stage, all of which actively accompany wine. The Art Series is Leeuwin Estate's top range series for wines that have reached the highest level in pursuit of quality, and with the exception of Riesling, original paintings purchased from up-and-coming young Australian artists are used on the labels every year. .

Shortly after its first release in 1978, the 1980 Art Series Chardonnay was featured in the British magazine Decanter in 1982 as "the world's best Chardonnay," and it suddenly attracted worldwide attention. Critic James Halliday has described Art Series Chardonnay as ``the finest example of Australian Chardonnay'', and Australian wine rating agency Langston has given it its highest rating of ``Exceptional''. Australian Sommelier Magazine also lists Block 20, the main source of Art Series Chardonnay, as one of Australia's top 25 vineyards.

The sister series ``Prelude'' and ``Siblings'' are reasonably priced wines that can be enjoyed from early on in a well-balanced manner.
