With a history dating back to 1340, it is Barolo's only remaining winery owned by the aristocracy. His predecessor, Paolo Cordero di Montezemolo, was called the father of Barolo, Italy's world-famous red wine. After Paolo's death, two brothers, Enrico and Giovanni, took over the winery, and today Giovanni and his children run this historic winery. Located at an altitude of 300m, near La Morra, one of the 11 comunes that make up Barolo, this is a rare producer in Barolo who owns a whole bunch of fields, and 28ha of the 30ha of owned fields are around the winery. . He is related to former Ferrari chairman Luca di Montezemolo.

An elegant style created by a venerable maker

This is one of the few wineries in Piedmont owned by the aristocracy. It is a venerable family that became an aristocrat through marriage with the Falletti family, who were generals. Combining the word monte, which means mountain, we named the small mountain on our premises Monfaret, and we also own a single Lebanese cedar that is representative of this area. Most fields are close to the winery, and even the most remote fields are delivered to the winery within two hours of harvest, and for white wine within one hour of harvest.

Two Barolos (Monfaretto, Vigna Enrico VI)

One of La Morra's best parcels, the clay-lime Monfaretto soil is rich in manganese and magnesium, producing Barolo Monfaretto with soft, fine-grained tannins. In addition, the 2 hectare vineyard of Castiglione Falletto, which was acquired in 1958, has iron-rich soil and produces long-ripening Barolo Enrico VI (6th generation), which is thick and has a rich lingering finish. The name was given to commemorate the birth of our 6th child (our 4th son, Enrico) in the year we purchased the car.
