Established in 1986. It was named in honor of Abel Janzoon, the Dutchman who was the first European to discover the island. The Champagne Maison discovered this land and decided it was a suitable location to plant Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, the main varieties of the Champagne region, and the Hill-Smith family acquired it in 1997. Jantz was the first in Tasmania to produce sparkling wine using secondary fermentation in the bottle, and since then the process has been called ``Method Tasmanoise,'' and Jantz has become known as a producer of premium sparkling wines representing Tasmania. .

Louisa Rose, chief winemaker at the Hill-Smith family owned winery, has a deep love for Australian wine and is committed to improving its quality.

Cultivation/brewing

The Pipers River area in the northeast of Tasmania, where Junts is located, is close to Bass Strait and has a relatively mild climate. The wind from the sea keeps the plants warm in the winter and prevents damage from frost, while also keeping the temperature cool in the summer, allowing for a long ripening period. Premium cuvées are harvested from selected vineyards in cool areas and vinified separately after each harvest, increasing brand options and adding complexity to the wine. The white wine undergoes secondary fermentation in the bottle for about 2 years, and the rosé takes about 18 months. Vintage cuvées are hand-harvested in individual plots. Carefully pressed, barrel fermented and then blended. Aged on the lees for about four and a half years, giving it an exquisite depth and nuances like roasted hazelnuts and honey.

Pour into the glass and you'll find aromas of honeysuckle and citrus fruits, nougat, roasted nuts, and strawberries from Pinot Noir. Elegant fruit and creamy flavors fill your mouth, and the finish is finished with citrus and nougat.
